Annual September Adopt-a-Beach Event, Sept 17Take part in the world's largest cleanup!The Great Lakes are home to some of the most beautiful beaches in the world! It's our responsibility to ensure their health. Take part in this one-day event that works to rid our shorelines and waterways of trash. What? Shoreline cleanup involving thousands of volunteers to remove trash and collect valuable data. When? Saturday, September 17, 2005, 9 a.m. to noon Where? Beaches and tributaries along Great Lakes coastal areas in Michigan and Illinois. Who? You! Cleanup volunteers are individuals, families, schools, community, scouting and religious groups. Why? Have fun giving back to the places you care about. The Great Lakes' shoreline and beaches are in our backyards. The event is more than just a cleanup-it's a celebration of the Great Lakes!
