Silver Bells in the City, Nov 18th; LansingThe 21st Annual Silver Bells in the City will take place on Friday, November 18, 2005 in downtown Lansing. This event, which attracted 50,000 people in 2004, runs from 5:00 to 9:00 pm. An Electric Light Parade steps off at 6:10 pm at the corner of Lenawee and South Washington Square. It proceeds North on Washington, turns West on Ottawa and continues South on Capitol Avenue.The parade is followed by the lighting of Michigan's official holiday tree in front of the State Capitol. Following the lighting of the tree, there will be a five minute fireworks show (weather permitting) over the State Capitol. The entire evening is filled with FREE family entertainment, including admission to downtown cultural institutions, horse-drawn wagon rides on Washington Square and performances by nearly 50 local arts organizations. In addition, the Lansing Board of Water & Light will sponsor the popular "Kids Caboose" Toys for Tots toy drive. click to
