America's Thanksgiving Parade, Nov 24th; DetroitAmerica's Thanksgiving Parade in Detroit made its first march down Woodward Avenue in 1924. It was then that all time favorite floats, such as Old Lady Who Lived in a Shoe and Mother Goose, made a good impression that changed Thanksgiving in Detroit for years to come. The first parade also included four adult bands, four papier-m‚chÈ heads worn by marchers, and bands from three area high schools.
