Report on Michigan Adoption Day The Detroit News has a feature on Michigan Adoption Day (the Tuesday before Thanksgiving every year). More than 40 Michigan counties participated in the event, the largest Adoption Day in the nation for the third year in a row. Some 4,400 children in Michigan's foster care system are still waiting to be adopted. Most are older, minorities or members of sibling groups.
