Great Lakes Water Resources CompactThe Port Huron Times-Herald reported that (if it becomes law) the Great Lakes-St. Lawrence River Basin Water Resources Compact will require states to evaluate water withdrawal and its impact, implement water-conservation measures and regulate the removal of water from the basin. The Great Lakes-St. Lawrence River basin comprises 90% to 95% of the fresh surface water in the United States (20% of the world's).
