Various Experts Weigh in on Capturing SBXL Benefits

The Detroit News talks with several Detroit and Michigan officials about ideas for realizing benefits from hosting Super Bowl XL. George W. Jackson of the Detroit Economic Growth Corp. says that there was more real estate development in Detroit in 2004 and 2005 than in any period since the 1950s and that every real estate developer, entrepreneur, restaurant owner, entertainment promoter and fan of urban living ought to be asking, "How am I going to get into the action downtown?". Michael LaFaive of the Mackinac Center for Public Policy suggests cutting taxes and business regulation. Richard Blouse Jr. of the Detroit Regional Chamber suggests a regional blueprint and collaboration (something echoed by Wayne State University law professor John Mogk). Fellow WSU prof Berl Falbaum suggests a healthy dose of perspective.
