Hall of Fame's exhibit 'Baseball as America' displayed at Henry Ford Museum
Included in the display is the Doubleday Ball, which has been designated as the game's most "sacred relic". The Doubleday Ball is cherished above everything thing else in the exhibit on two counts. It was used in baseball's first game in 1839, and it was the first object acquired by the New York museum, which officially was dedicated in 1939 during the game's centennial.
