Insurance Drives SprawlThe GLRC has an interesting feature that looks at how insurance rates may be driving suburban sprawl. Lower insurance rates encourage moving to the suburbs, big city mayors say the higher rates in urban areas discourage redevelopment in the city and sprawling suburbs increase infrastructure costs for everyone as huge networks of highways must be built to accomodate commuters.
