Bad Time for a Michigan Tax Cut Phil Power of the The Center for Michigan has a great editorial in today's Detroit News where he says that Michigan's political leaders on both sides of the aisle are more interested in "tactical partisan pirouetting and harsh rhetoric" than addressing the problems. He suggests that cutting taxes right now would be a very bad idea and that "Michiganians must face the fact that the state is deep into a fundamental transition in which a relatively low-skill manufacturing economy must give way to a higher-skill and knowledge-based one. As a result, the state -- to have any chance of competing successfully -- must substantially invest in our education and knowledge infrastructure."
