A Look at 2005 Michigan Political Fund RaisingGeorge Weeks writes that state officeholders raised over $10 million in calendar year 2005. Gov. Granholm accounted for $5 million of that total. As for the other side, Weeks writes: "As for Republican nominee-in-waiting Dick DeVos, who has the deepest pockets of any Michigan gubernatorial candidate ever and in the end will spend whatever he figures is needed, MCFN said his campaign accumulated $1.9 million as of the end of 2005." Among state senators the top 4 in building their election war chests were Senators Alan Sanborn from Macomb County, Bruce Patterson of Canton Township, Jason Allen of Traverse City, Sen.
