The Past & Future of Michigan TourismThe Traverse City Record-Eagle has a pair of articles recapping this week's Michigan Lodging & Tourism Conference presented by the state and the Michigan Hotel, Motel & Resort Association. George Zimmerman, vice president of Travel Michigan, said the state plans to increase tourism spending by $3 million this year (to nearly $9 million) and add $6 million to the 2007 and 2008 tourism budgets. They plan to expand regional tourism advertising in southern Ohio, Wisconsin and Ontario.
