Made In Michigan Festival, May 20 & 21; Lansing

In conjunction with Michigan Week 2006, the Made In Michigan Festival is a prime opportunity for Michigan consumers to meet face-to-face with companies making products here in the state.

"BuyMichiganProducts.com, an online database featuring Michigan businesses and Michigan-made products, has teamed up with the MSU Product Center, and the Old Town Lansing Association, to create the upcoming Made In Michigan Festival, scheduled for May 20 & 21 in Lansingís Old Town district. The event, which kicks-off the statewide Michigan Week (May 20-26), will serve to educate Michigan residents about the wealth of products and services available in their home state, and provide a venue for Michigan-based businesses to promote and showcase their products."

Vendor categories include: gift items, soaps & skin products, fruit products, organic & health food, sweets & snack foods, and more!

Admission is FREE for this 2-Day event, located in Lansing's historic Old Town district.

Michigan has one of the highest unemployment rates in the country, leaving Michigan businesses looking for new ways to bring in customers and be more profitable here in this state. Michigan residents are also looking for ways to support Michigan businesses and hence keep jobs in this state.

Also of note, The Lansing Principal Shopping District and the Michigan Historical Museum recently announced the names of the 12 inaugural inductees to the Michigan Walk of Fame. The 2006 inductees include Jeff Daniels, Herbert Henry Dow, Thomas Edison, President Gerald Ford, Henry Ford, E. Genevieve Gillette, Ernie Harwell, W.K. Kellogg, Rosa Parks, Fannie Richards, Helen Thomas and Stevie Wonder. The induction ceremony will take place on May 25th at the Michigan Historical Museum.
