Festival of Sustainable Living, April 29 & 30; Rochester Hills

This event weekend is an exploration of how we can all live a more sustainable life.

There are five main areas that will be explored:
  1. Sustainability. This is a subject which includes: green building, renewable energy and conservation, CoHousing/ecovillage, Mass Transit, and alternative fuels.
  2. Spiritual. Focus on: Customs, practices, beliefs, or any way of being that is in harmony with nature.
  3. Health. Focus on: Customs, practices, beliefs, or any way of being that supports or enhances our physical health.
  4. Children. Focus on: Children's activities that support their exploration of nature.
  5. Food. Focus on: All things food. Production, cooking, and eating.

There are already many groups, companies, and individuals who have committed their time and knowledge to the conference, including:
  • Sierra Club
  • Oakland Land Conservancy
  • Transit Riders United
  • Wild Ones (native plant organization)
  • Warm Training Center
  • Kensington Metro Parks Farm Staff
  • Oakland County Planning Department official

There will also be many lectures, demonstrations, and workshops. Some of the scheduled events include:
  • A bio-diesel demonstration
  • Geo-thermal heating lecture
  • Virtual tour and lecture of an active Solar home in Ann Arbor
  • Many Green/Natural Building Lectures
  • Many hands on kids activities
  • Plant and seed Sale
  • Green Products and Services Marketplace.
  • Organic Home Gardening and Landscaping classes
  • Holistic Health and exercise demonstrations and workshops
  • Greening Your Home lectures
  • Weekend-Long Film Festival
