Fight the Blight Yesterday's Detroit Free Press had a feature on a 6-foot-high concrete wall stretches for a half-mile, starting just south of 8 Mile Road, along an alley between Birwood and Mendota that was built to divide the blacks living on one side from the whites living on the other. Now Motor City Blight Busters, a nonprofit that cleans up Detroit neighborhoods and rehabilitates properties, is working with the neighborhood to paint a mural on a 310-foot section of the wall that runs along the western edge of Alphonso Wells Park.
