Overview of Ethanol IssuesMITECHNEWS.COM has a great overview of ethanol and flex-fuel issues today. Among the highlights is the fact that that while ethanol use has more than doubled in the United States, renewable fuel and flex-fuel vehicle development still has a long way to go. Just 4% of the current US fleet can run on E85 ethanol, compared to nearly 75% in Brazil. The main reason for this is the fact that ethanol requires special tanks, hardware and engine callibration, making producing a flex-fuel vehicle (FFV) more costly.
