The Department of History, Arts and Libraries (HAL) has announced the winners of the fourth annual Michigan Week Youth Photo Contest. The contest was sponsored by HAL and Michigan State University Extension's 4-H Youth Development, with support from the Michigan 4-H Foundation and the Michigan Barn Preservation Network.

The 12 winning photos - two from each of six regions - capture the photographers' views of their favorite Michigan historic sites. The photos are on display in the rotunda of the Michigan Library and Historical Center in Lansing during Michigan Week, May 20-26, and will then travel around the state as part of 4-H exhibits at selected county fairs. You can also view them online at www.michigan.gov/michiganweek.

HAL director William Anderson said "This contest gives young people an opportunity to explore and celebrate our state's heritage, and that's what Michigan Week is all about. Their photos provide a unique glimpse at some of Michigan's renowned historic sites and some of our hidden gems."
