Proposal to Boost Cherry Research Fun by $900K Introduced Between the Rows by Andrew McFarlane The Leelanau Enterprise reports that State Reps David Palsrok (R-Manistee), Howard Walker (R-Traverse City) and Kevin Elsenheimer (R-Bellaire) have introduced a measure to boost the National Cherry Research and Promotion Initiative adopted in March by the Cherry Industry Administrative Board by almost $1 million. The additional money, which would come from tobacco settlement disbursements, would be used to fund scientific research to help demonstrate and communicate the health benefits of red tart cherries to the public.
