Exploring the Inland Waterway

Indian River Boats by SvobodaIT

Saturday's Freep has an excellent writeup on vacationing, boating and general recreation in Indian River, Burt Lake and the Inland Waterway. The waterway is Michigan's largest chain of rivers and lakes, featuring 150 miles of shoreline and 30 miles of river. It begins at Pickerel Lake, travels west through Crooked Lake, Crooked River, Burt Lake, Indian River, Mullett Lake, Cheboygan River and into Lake Huron.

Just because it's another chance to say it, $17.5 billion is pumped into the state economy each year by travelers and over 200,000 jobs are directly tied to recreation & tourism. Something you may not know is that Michigan is 4th in the nation for in-state tourism (residents who vacation within their state).
