Interview with UP Congressman Bark Stupak Congressman Bart Stupak has one of the largest congressional districts in the country ñ his territory includes the entire Upper Peninsula and extends to Bay City ñ and is three times bigger than all New Jersey. In an interview with Michigan Radio's Jack Lessenberry, Stupak said folks in the UP are happy being part of Michigan, advocated more money for tourism, and suggested trying to capture more of the dollars for finished timber products. Asked about sulfide mining in the UP, Stupak confessed grave concerns over safety of sulfide mining as compared to traditional hard rock mining.
