Cyrus McCormick to be HonoredThe Mining Journal reports that in honor of the achievements of the McCormicks and another family, the Bentleys, the Michigamme Historical Society is hosting McCormick Day on Saturday.Cyrus Rice McCormick, 1849-1936, son of Cyrus Hall McCormick who invented the mechanical grain reaper, enjoyed hiking and camping in the area near Michigamme that is now the McCormick Tract Wilderness Area. Along with his attorney Cyrus Bentley, he decided to build a trail from Fortress Lake - later renamed White Deer Lake - to the Huron Mountain Club near Big Bay.
