New Book Looks at Ancient UP Copper Mystery

The Mining Journal has a fascinating feature on Fred Rydholm's new book "Michigan Copper - The Untold Story". Rydholm learned as a boy that Isle Royale and the Keweenaw Peninsula harbor thousands of prehistoric copper pits, but that no one really knew where the 10 to 50 million pounds of pit-mined copper went. The book details his theory that the copper went to Europe and touches on other mysteries like dolmen on the mountains along Lake Superior and stone tablets bearing undecipherable characters found in Newberry.
