Sikkema offers to Trade Scholarships for Welfare & Teacher Health CareThe LSJ reports that Senate Majority Leader Ken Sikkema said he will consider approving Gov. Granholm's plan to give college students $4,000 scholarships under the Michigan Merit Award if she will agree to a limit on welfare benefits and a change in health care plans for teachers.
