We Love Michigan, Even Though We May Leave ItThe Freep reports that 9 out of 10 Michiganders (regardless of race, age or economic class) love the state of Michigan. However, the Detroit Free Press-Local 4 poll of 800 adults found that warm feeling is not without a colder edge: 1 in 3 Michiganders generally agrees that Michigan is "a dying state," and 4 in 10 said they recently thought about fleeing Michigan, mostly for job reasons. The poll also found that younger folks are more likely than older folks to have "seriously considered" moving. More results will be release through the week.Michael LaFaive, fiscal policy director for the conservative Mackinac Center for Public Policy said "People have to pay their bills and they know it. People are the ultimate natural resource and as Michigan bleeds its people, we are saying good-bye to talent and leadership that is priceless." Joe Stevens of Flint was more optimistic. Recalling the refrain from the 80s of "Last one out of Michigan, turn out the lights,", Stevens said "We can't continue the pessimism - We all have to work together."
