Kettering Prof Says Ethanol Will Need Subsidies WJRT-TV Flint reports that Kettering University professor James Gover says that while ethanol will reduce our dependence on foreign oil, the only way E-85 will make it in the marketplace is with more tax cuts and government subsidies. Because cars will get roughly 25% lower gas mileage using E-85, Gover feels it would have to sell for 75% of the cost of gasoline to be competitive.
