Honoring Selfridge's Tuskegee Airmen


First class of Negro pilots in the history of
the US Army Air Corps (LC-USZ62-107498)

The Detroit News reports on a ceremony held at Selfridge Air Base to honor "Tuskegee Airmen" who trained at Selfridge. From 1942 to 1944, an estimated 330 African-American pilots received advanced gunnery training at Selfridge after receiving their wings at Tuskegee Army Airfield.
