Study Contrasts Attitudes about Aging with FactsThe LSJ has some reactions from folks to a new study by VA Ann Arbor Healthcare System and University of Michigan researchers published in the (we're not making this up) Journal of Happiness Studies. The study found that despite the fact that most believe that young people are happier than older people, the reverse is true. UM Professor and senior author Dr. Peter Ubel says:"People often believe that happiness is a matter of circumstance, that if something good happens, they will experience long-lasting happiness, or if something bad happens, they will experience long-term misery, but instead, people's happiness results more from their underlying emotional resources -- resources that appear to grow with age."
