Construction Begins on Scaled-down Thumb WindparkThe Port Huron Times Herald reports that construction has begun on Michigan's first large-scale, commercial wind energy development in Huron County. However, due to the fact that the current infrastructure may not be able to handle all the power wind turbines could generate, only a few are being constructed at the present time.In addition to Noble, 6 other companies have proposed wind farms in the area. According to the American Wind Energy Association, the wind parks could generate as much as 600 megawatts when operating at maximum capacity - enough energy to power more than 135,000 homes.
