Talking with Ken Sikkema about the SBTMichigan Radio's Jack Lessenberry has an interview with Senate Majority Leader Ken Sikkema about the upcoming repeal of the Michigan Single Business Tax (SBT). Sikkema says that nobody believes the money could be eliminated without a replacement, and the senator talks about potential replacement taxes. Sikkema is working on a proposal that would involve a gross receipts tax - one that would apply to the gross income of a company.In his essay response, Jack suggests that it's irresponsible to repeal the tax before a solution is determined and that we need something like a state constitutional convention, convened specifically to consider the twin issues of what the state needs to do, and what is the best way to get government the money it needs to do what we need.
