Bill to Limit Gas Sales Tax Introduced, Relief Questionable

The Detroit Free Press reports that Rep. Robert Gosselin, R-Troy, introduced a bill that would limit the sales tax collected on gasoline. Above $2.30 a gallon, the 6 percent Michigan sales tax would not be collected. The article points out that if gas prices stayed at $3 per gallon for a year, a taxpayer only would save about $30 for the year under the bill, according to the House Fiscal Agency.
