Boat Registration Down from '02, Up From Last Year

The Detroit Free Press reports that the Michigan boat registrations have declined from a 2002 high of just over 1 million to 957,465 (roughly 5%). The figure is up 13,000 from last year and Michigan law does not require registrations for nonmotorized small craft like kayaks, canoes, rowboats and some small sailboats. The article reports that Michiganders are selling their boats at a higher rate.
