Winds of Change?

A new report titled Michigan's Offshore Wind Potential from the Land Policy Institute at Michigan State University says that Michigan has the potential to become a big player in offshore wind energy. At the same time, the Federal Government has also issued a report that investment in coal is now more expensive than wind.

Road Trip: 2008 Great Lakes Lighthouse Festival, Oct 9-12

The four day event provides activities for the young and old including lighthouse tours (aerial, boat or personal vehicle), entertainment, and vendors. The festival boasts over 100 maritime related vendors including lighthouse preservation groups, artists, authors and more.

A Federal District Court Judge in that state ruled on Tuesday that the state's law that bars consumers from buying and having wine shipped to them from out-of-state retailers violated the U.S. Constitution and enjoined the State from enforcing laws that prevent such shipments.

Fort Fright: Haunted history at Michilimackinac

On October 10 & 11 Colonial Michilimackinac in Mackinac City becomes "Fort Fright" - home to werewolves, witches, and other legendary characters. Lanterns will light the way and many of the fort's buildings will be open, featuring a haunted house and costumed interpreters telling stories, playing music and serving authentic autumn treats like mulled cider, molasses cookies and toffee candy.
