I feel that we should put the legislators in Lansing on a parttime basis for as much as it is costing us for full time. Other states do have parttime legislators and they are in better fiscal shape than we are.
Another item that is going to cost the small business people a lot of lost business is the 2% tax. People are struggling now, so they just won't use the business' services as much.

Indiana does the part-time legislator thing. A friend from there said he felt that kept legislators more in touch. I think that it would be a relatively minor impact on our fiscal status though. Still, every little bit...

I asked the Governor about the 2% tax and she said that if your gross receipts were under (I think) $350,000, there was no tax.

Why is Governor Granholm reluctant to tax beer but will tax liquor? Beer has not had a tax increase since the '60's and is long overdue. Or is it that she realizes it is the upper middle/rich class who is most likely to pay the liquor tax while "Joe Six-Pack" ie' the union member laborer who is the beer drinker?

As a young woman having lived in michigan all my life...I am very disapointed. Will this granholm not stop until every last person leaves this state?! It seems the only people who are left are those who cannot take a loss on selling their home. Soon this state will be a ghost town. It also hurts our democratic candidate clinton. Look what happen to michigan with a woman in charge!!! Very disapointing!! I am disgusted with the state of our beautiful state. Get on the ball girl!!!! Save this state before there's nobody left.
