The annual Woodward Dream Cruise happens this Saturday, August 18, 2007 in Detroit, Michigan. It's billed as the world’s largest one-day celebration of car culture, and with more 1.7 million visitors and over than 40,000 muscle cars, street rods, custom, collector and special interest vehicles, it delivers. The Detroit Free Press has some great video in The Woodward Stories that they're posting in anticipation of the annual Woodward Dream Cruise and a ton more in their Cars & Cruisin' section. Not to be outdone (really) the Detroit News has an excellent feature titled Michigan's main drag: Woodward's cult of cruising lives on where teenagers at heart like Alan Agauas of Bloomfield Hills remember:
"It's reliving your youth. You get older, and you think back, and it seems that times were easier, times were better, the food tasted better. Your parents are gone now, but you'll see an old car and say, 'Oh, my dad had a car like that' or 'My mom had a car like that.'"

There's also a really cool show on Detroit muscle cars from Jeremy Clarkson's Motorworld that features a ride through the Motor City with Bob Seger. We got that link through Jalopnik and last year they had some on the scene coverage of the Dream Cruise with former Detroit Wonk Ry Wert.
