The Michigan Heart Gallery is a traveling (and online) photographic exhibit of children in the foster care system who are waiting for a permanent family of their own through adoption. The Heart Gallery photos are taken by professional photographers and the exhibit is used to increase awareness about the over 300 children awaiting adoption and to recruit families for these kids.
Visit their site for a schedule of locations around the state, to view photos online and to learn more about adoption from Michigan's foster care system. The Heart Gallery is produced by the Michigan Adoption Resource Exchange, an information and referral service for prospective adoptive parents interested in adopting children with "special needs," and for adoption workers looking for homes for these children. At their site you can also view a fantastic video of a few children who are awaiting adoption.
