The Library of Michigan has announced the annual list of Michigan Notable Books. Every year, the Library of Michigan chooses 20 of the previous year's best non-fiction or fiction books either written by a Michigan resident or about Michigan or the Great Lakes.

Note, I was working on a list of all 20 with links to the publishers when the program "unexpectedly quit". Therefore, we will "unexpectedly" offer just a few highlights. A few highlights from the 2007 include Saving Daylight, Jim Harrison's 10th book of poetry, Donutheart, the sequel to the popular young adult book Donuthead, Landscaping With Native Plants of Michigan, a beautifully illustrated guide to gardening with plants native to Michigan, So Cold a Sky: Upper Michigan Weather Stories, a collection of modern & historical tales about weather, Fresh Water: Women Writing on the Great Lakes, a collection of nonfiction works by women writers and William G. Milliken: Michigan's Passionate Moderate, by Dave Dempsey (read an excerpt on Absolute Michigan).
