The annual North American International Auto Show (NAIAS) begins next Saturday, January 13, 2007 at Cobo in Detroit and runs through Sunday, January 21st. The NAIAS began in 1907 as the Detroit Auto Show and has grown to become one of the largest auto shows in the world. It has a huge economic impact ($540 - $550 million) and in its centennial year, car companies are expected to unveil almost 50 models exclusively at the show.
Looking for a way to impress clients (or just spend $400) and do some good? The Charity Preview of the North American International Auto Show raised $6.8 million dollars last year for children's charities and you can order tickets by calling 888.838.7500 or visiting the Charity Preview page.
The 2007 auto show will have video and other coverage through a partnership with MSN Autos, and you can also get a bunch of multimedia from the 2006 NAIAS. There is also a fairly comprehensive preview of expected announcements and concepts at the 2007 show. Speaking of multimedia, check out the whiz-bang virtual tour of the 2007 North American International Auto Show from the Detroit News.
The Great Lakes IT Report says that Microsoft and Ford will announce a partnership at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas and the North American International Auto Show in Detroit, AutoTech Daily reported. "Sync" will enable hands-free cell phone communication and other wireless in-vehicle functions, including the ability to receive email, download music and connect with MP3 music devices.
If you like your coverage with a healthy dose of sass and lots of user comments (likely peppered with bad words), you'll want to hook into Jalopnik . They're already jumping the gun with things like the 2008 Dodge Viper and you can rest assured that Detroit's own Ray Wert and the rest of the crew will remain focused on delivering written, photographic and video reports from the Detroit Auto Show.
