Big Storm, Bigger Wave

Huge Wave by Latitude 45

Of course just a few days after I blog one of Martin's photos of the Petoskey Breakwater to Michigan in Pictures, he braves the 50 MPH maelstrom to capture this stunning shot. I guess that's one of the bright sides of having more than one blog!

(I think that Charles was along with him too!)

Someone wondered how big this wave was and Martin wrote:

It was difficult to find, but the best description of the Petoskey Pierhead is:

A 33 ft (10 m) round "D9" cylindrical steel tower, painted white, on a red square concrete base

I don't know if the base is included in the 33 feet, but from lake level to the top of the pierhead, i'd estimate to be at least 50 feet; so, i'd estimate the wave is at least 70 feet! Wow!!
