The Lansing Hub reports that Michigan-based Meijer has selected Joshua Davis, the singer of the Lansing-based Steppin' In It, is the first artist of the month in their new "Outside the Mainstream" music program. Joshua's new solo CD "Fool Rooster" will be stocked at all 178 Meijer stores in Michigan, Chicago, Louisville and elsewhere.

Meijer spokesperson Stacie Behler said they selected an artist consistent with their brand and who would resonate with their customers, in the vein of John Mellencamp, Bob Dylan and Bruce Springsteen. "The goal is partnership with local communities and the folks who shop at our stores. I think (Davis') music is really going to connect with our customers," Behler said.
