Hello from Creative Cities and Detroit

This week we're broadcasting (sort of) live from the Renaissance Center in Detroit and the Creative Cities Summit 2.0.

In addition to a cool outing that we'll talk about later, we were able to check out the "Unconference" at MOCAD where 150 or so people gathered to focus on the future of Detroit. One of the themes that kept coming up was how the stories of Detroit are impacting the city's efforts to re-invent itself as a place to live, work and play. This can be the mainstream media with a focus on crime and economic meltdown, but it can also come from the popular culture.

Last week the Sam Roberts Band sent me their video Detroit '67 from the album "Love at the End of the World". I love the song and the vibe of the video, but it doesn't seem like it's likely to make people fired up about visiting the city. You can watch below or on YouTube. As you watch, think about what authentic stories can be told about Detroit and share your thoughts in the comments.
