The concert, "Jeff Daniels & Friends," will take place Saturday, November 25, 2006, at the Michigan Theater in Ann Arbor. The concert features Michigan-bred artists Rachael Davis of Cadillac, Wayne David Parker of Dearborn (anyone have a web link for him?), Ann Arbor based Peter 'Madcat' Ruth, Lansing's Steppin' In It and Neil Woodward of Howell (he's Michigan's Troubador). Daniels and company will perform original songs and several tunes celebrating the Great Lakes State. Members of the Purple Rose Theater Company will also share the stage throughout the evening.
Daniels explained "I've wanted to do something like this since hearing about Arlo Guthrie's annual Thanksgiving shows in New York. Arlo and his friends get together and take over Carnegie Hall each year and put on a celebration of folk music. We're looking forward to doing the same here at the Michigan Theatre in Ann Arbor; and, hopefully, to continuing the tradition each year."
Tickets are on sale at the Michigan Union Ticket Office 734-763-TKTS or through Jeff's web site. Additional concert information is available by contacting Karla Rice at Fleming & Associates 734-995-9066.
Fun fact: you may not know that Jeff Daniels can sing and play guitar. Or do both at the same time. Truth is, he can and has been writing songs and playing guitar for 30 years!

Oh yeah, we're so there. Can't wait.
I am in Chicago that weekend or I'd be there for sure. I've known Rachael since she was this high (gestures pretty close to the floor) and everyone else sounds just great.
I have lived in other states since 1989. I miss the midwest and the people are unique therefore I plan to move back. I have seen Jeff's advertisements to bring business back to Michigan...that is great. I would love to return but I am appalled at the tax burden. Could Jeff impress Governor Granholm to give the people a break too as well as business. Currently I pay around $600 in Tennessee with no state income tax. Maybe Govenor Granholm needs to talk to Governor Bredesen. I dont miss the perks of higher taxes. Currently New Boston taxes are around $2000-3000/yr but would jump considerably on the sale. I am 61, a registered nurse with a master's in counseling and would love to come back but even if I work until 70 I would not be able to afford a $10000/yr tax on retirement. Jeff is great and does wonderful things for Michigan, please ask him to use his considerable influence to help the "shrinking middle class" as Lou Dobbs of CNN calls us. Connie
