All week on Absolute Michigan we're going to be taking a fresh look at Detroit, where it is and where it's going.
Johnny Knoxville and Palladium boots have a sweet 3 part video kicking back at the "pick & choose journalism" that portrays the Motor City as a modern day urban wasteland. Knoxville does a great job leading a tour that looks at the arts, food & music scene in Detroit with people like rapper Black Milk, Wayne Kramer of MC5 and Phil Cooley of Slows who says:
"If I move to New York, I have no say in what happens in that city and that's a ship I can't steer. If I'm here and I give a damn and I actually go out and am part of the community, I can make a difference."
While there's no doubt that Detroit faces some incredible challenges and that its future is anything but certain, more journalism that takes its time to actually see who's doing what in Michigan's largest city will go a long way to helping the D and our state as a whole turn the corner. We really hope you enjoy this video and stay tuned for more at absolutemichigan.com/Detroit.

The older generation sees the potential too, they just don't have any money to do anything about it.. How can you invest in anything when you're still raising your 30yr old kids and their kids too. There is no "turn 18 and go to work" anymore. Everybody wants to make $20 an hour right out of school and thinks they can't live on their own because they don't want to give up their toys.
