While I'm tempted to get caught up in Kennygate and pose the question "Does the mystery surrounding what was on Kenny Rogers' hand forever taint Tiger baseball?", I see that has already been done. I'm sure Ty Cobb is spinning in his grave about it ... or is he sharpening up his cleats, chuckling and saying "that's baseball"?
The Detroit News has an excellent feature on the state of Michigan's craft brewing industry. As is often the case when times are hard, the beer industry is doing well. Michigan's microbrewers do say it could be even better if  Michigan law didn't require brewers to use a third-party distributor and cap the number of brew pubs a single company can operate. In Oregon 1 of every 3 beers bought is made in the state compared to Michigan's 1 out of 100. The News says that:
Michigan law is heavily supported by the Michigan Beer & Wine Wholesalers Association (MBWWA), a trade group of 75 family-owned distributors, which has one of the most powerful lobbying arms in the state. It often woos legislators to golf outings up north and winter seminars in locations like the Bahamas and holds fundraisers at the association's Lansing headquarters.

Seen at my local Starbucks on the chalkboard: "All espresso drinks served pine tar free. No garruntees on drip."
I had to press for clarification whether they were sans pine tar, or whether the tar was complimentary.
