Michigan Restaurants: Rosie’s Diner in Rockford, Michigan

Rosie's Diner by bellzatk

All month on Absolute Michigan we'll be featuring Michigan restaurants. Week one is Diners & Hometown Favorites and the first of these is "the original queen of diners and the most famous diner in the world." Rosie's was featured in the Bounty paper towel commercials that starred Nancy Walker as Rosie the Waitress, and of course we have to link over to a YouTube video of one of the commercials. That media spotlight continues to the present day - with Rosie's featured in the inaugural episode of Food Network's new show Diners, Drive-ins and Dives. RoadsideOnline has an interesting feature titled Saving Rosie's Diner that tells how current owners Randy and Jonelle Roest purchased Rosie's in January of 2006.

Their menu features lots of what you want from a diner: burgers, sandwiches (even fried egg and bologna), fried chicken, meatloaf, hand-dipped shakes and malts and even diner-made pies.

You can visit the web site for Rosie's Diner and see where it is on Absolute Michigan's Map of Michigan.

I was so glad when my husband and I were playing a game we call "grab a driction" You right down drictions like turn left at the third blue house when we have driven two or three hours we get the map out and plot our way home. The gods were watching over ous. Last week one of the slips said stop and eat at next restaurant. We had to look twice when 5 min latter there was Rosies The food was outstanding. The prices set great and we were in heaven. We went hone and told all our foodie friends about or trip. They then gave us a history lesion. We have all ready made planes to eat here on our anniversary.which is Oct 31 with 20 of our friends. Thank you for one of the best trips we ever grabed out of a bag. Continued good luck with your wonderful diner. We will make the trip as ofton as we can on our fixed income.Thank you Jade and Jimmy Roberts.
