My grandfather was friends with Captain Payea of the Langell Boys. Here she is frozen in the ice on Saginaw Bay. The photos show the efforts to free her from the ice.
He has this photo scanned in really big so you can zoom up close and maybe set it as your wallpaper. He has more photos of the Langell Boys, and also a whole lot of old photos of his family and even more old photos he's collected. Meanwhile, back in the modern day, he's taking pictures of boats and offering up interesting looks at the Here & Now of snowmobile graveyards, giant grasshoppers and other things you might not see every day.

The Langell Boys lies off Oscoda in 24 feet of water. She points north where she burned and sank and is now mostly covered in zebra mussels on all exposed parts. From year to year the sand shifts a bit but the wreck continues to settle. I try to visit every couple of years. It indeed is a true time capsule.
