Photo Friday: The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams by zakzorah

Cris (zakzorah) says that the quotation that provides the title for this photo is from Eleanor Roosevelt. She writes:

I grew up in a family rich in culture as my parents grew up in different countries: Portugal and Mexico. Over the years, family visits to Mexico have given me the opportunity to capture some beautiful images. You don’t always have to travel far, however, to get fantastic photos. I’ve taken some of my favorite pictures in the metro Detroit area and other cities throughout Michigan.

She has indeed taken some lovely & inspiring photos. Some of my favorites include Detroit's Mexicantown, Walled Lake, Tiger Stadium and those from up north including Ludington & Traverse City.

I think, however, that the best place to start is with this collection of photos she's added to the Absolute Michigan pool.

    Dear Mr. Farlane-
I enjoy your research articles on the Hopewell Indians. Sometimes, I think that their culture is largely unappreciated due to their age. My hub has a sister that won't acknowlege the existence of anything before Jesus. Many of the carbon dating of the Hopewell artifacts-er-whatever-(we can't acknowlege carbon dating or digging here, right?) place them before Jesus.
Plus, N. America is not considered, by the intellectual world, of having anything worth acknowlegeing. After all, it all started in Africa and FLOWED from there onto the other continenets.
And, if there was something here worth serious consideration, it woulda already been found. Right?
I love the fact that some of the earliest life is being traced to North America, and Michigan in general. Why not here? Unless the landscape was a desert 2500 years ago, why couldn't have a thriving society lived here, amongst the lush landscape?
