Well, Google seems to have fixated upon our "Granholm vs. DeVos: Michigan Governor Debate Schedule" as the page for debate info and a bunch of folks have left comments, so we decided to add our links to debate recap articles and blogs there!
There's also a link to a video rebroadcast of the debate!

I tried to watch this debate. oh how i tried. i got halfway through and could no longer stand DeVos's speaking. His mannerisms, tone of voice and inability to really answer the questions well was so eerily like Bush that it was more than I could take. You could hear the nervousness in his voice. If the man can't handle a debate, how can he handle the governorship? And if he stands so close to Bush on policies, how can we expect things to turn around when Bush's policies are what is hurting our manufacturing the most?
Olga, what country are you living in? Canada? The rest of the country is booming with the lowest unemployment rates we have seen in years, other states are adding new jobs daily and are looking for people from Michigan to come a fill their jobs. Granholm is running Michigan into a depression! She is all talk and no action, she promised to turn Michigan around four years ago and look, we are worse off now than when she took office and you cant debate that! Granholms policies are hurting manufacturing the most, unfortunatly you are duped by the democratic talking points and are unable to see the truth. Just because someone isnt a great speaker isnt a reason to DISCRIMINATE against them. Its time for Michigan to wake up, democrats have run Detroit into the ground, killed our economy, and are now lying to keep their jobs. Jennifer Granholm's days are numbered as Govenor and it is a great thing for Michigan.
No single individual is solely responsible for Michigan's current troubles, therefore neither Granholm nor DeVos will be able to single-handedly in one year or four. How EXACTLY is the governor individually responsible ~ there are many people who speak in "catch phrases" from headlines but lack the beef of the documentation to back up thier words.
It is important to remember that Michigan's economy was running rapidly into the ground before Granholm stepped into office, just because we are feeling the effects TODAY doesn't mean that the cause occured YESTERDAY.
Can you imagine moving into a house that had been gradually devasted by a negligent group of renters. Now imagine you haven't an extra cent to spare for repairs, and all the friends you have who could help you fix it move away to foreign countries to gain higher personal profits. If you're struggling just to keep the lights on, how is that house going to look four years later?
Analogies aside, WE ALL NEED TO PITCH IN to repair Michigan, and private business owners who take their manufacturing plants or other operations overseas are hurting us ALL. I believe lust of business owners who seek bigger personal profits at the expense of loyalty to their own town, state, or country that has Michigan in this terrible condition. Choose your loyalties wisely, or we all suffer in the end.
We have all suffered and its not just the responsibility of one Govenor or party, there is plenty of blame to go around, but as I have stated time and again and take your time and read this slow so it sinks in, knowing the state of our economy four years ago and still running a campaign promising to turn this economy around was either a blatent lie to get elected or just plain stupidity on Granholms behalf. And here we are again, a new campaign and more promises, this cant be turned around in a day but shes not getting the job done! Give Devos a chance and in four years if there isnt improvement throw him out. But doing the same thing believing you are going to get different results is insanity. We need to change the climate for buisness in Michigan and it takes a leader to show the way.

I think both Granholm and DeVos are full of it, I would like to see somone else step in, the battle between these two proves both of them incompetent and cruel, I will not vote for either.
I find it sad that in a country with as many freedoms and civil rights, the number of people who choose to get involved and exercise their right to vote choose not to. When you give the Iraqi people a chance to vote they came out despite the threat on their lives in the millions to cast a ballot. We could learn alot from them.
Our voter numbers are abysmal. In my opinion, they are a slap in the face to everyone who has fought for our democracy in war and in the political arena.
I agree, I heard that only about 35% will turn out to vote, I dont know if that number is accurate but if it is we need to wake up and realize what an oppertunity we have as Americans! Too much is still taken for granted in this country!
