The LSJ reports that Fred Trost, longtime host of the popular hunting and fishing show Michigan Outdoors and also the Practical Sportsman, died yesterday.
"He was a big deal," said Tony Hansen, editor of Michigan Out-of-Doors Magazine. "He was the first outdoor media star. Kind of a larger-than-life personality"
For the last several years, Trost provided the content for JoeSportsman.com and you can read a lot of his stuff there and see videos as well. They have a note that they will likely close up shop after Fred's memorial service.
Outdoor Michigan (run by Fred's son Zachary) will have details on the memorial service as they become available and there are a lot of people remembering Fred Trost on Michigan Sportsman.
