Why wont MI go to a four point on one side rule we definetly have the deer to do so and if we already bring in 500 million a year in revinew it might put us on the map and bring even more in.But allowing hunters to shoot any buck for there first tag isnt allowing our bucks to mature and produce.

From the Deer season looks a lot like 2006 in the Ironwood Daily Globe:

It looks like this year's gun-deer seasons in northern Wisconsin and the western Upper Peninsula are pretty close to repeats of the 2006 season.

Rodney Clute, big game specialist with the Michigan Department of Natural Resources, offered his initial assessment of the firearm deer season which began on Thursday, Nov. 15.

"It appears that the deer harvest is similar to the harvest of 2006," said Clute. "Across the state the number of hunters participating appears to be down from last year, but those participating report seeing more deer," he said.

"Overall, antler development appears smaller than in 2006. This could be a product of reduced rainfall this year. Deer from those areas hardest hit by the drought appear to have smaller antlers," Clute said.
