The Saline Fiddlers are one of the most extraordinary extracurricular music programs in the United States. The group began 14 years ago with the goal of providing a different style of music education to students and has grown into a model program that:
...is a brilliant example of what young adults can and will achieve if given a direction and the opportunity to explore, and pursue their own interests.
The Saline Fiddlers astound audiences every time they take the stage. They present an energetic, polished stage show that includes music, song and dance from the traditions of American folk fiddle, bluegrass, jazz, western swing and Celtic music. Their repertoire, which grows every year, includes many pieces composed or arranged by an exceptionally talented artistic team, headed up by Artistic Director Ben Culver.
The Fiddlers tour all over the nation, but you can see them at their 14th annual Winter Hometown Concert with guests the very talented and original Infamous Stringdusters, a Nashville bluegrass sextet. The concert takes place on Saturday, February 2, 2008 at the Saline High School performing arts center and you can get tickets at the Saline Fiddlers web site or by calling 866-257-5333.
In 2007, The Stringdusters became the first band in history to win the International Bluegrass Music Association's awards for Album of the Year, Song of the Year and Emerging Artist in a single year, so this show should be quite a treat!
