Torii Hunter is a great ballplayer and deserves a starting spot. Unfortunately the All Star balloting is as much about popularity with the fans as talent and all three leaders (Vlad Guerrero of the Angels, Manny Ramirez of the Red Sox and Ichiro Suzuki of the Mariners) are in large markets.

MLB.com has an interesting article about the fact that <a href="http://mlb.mlb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20070621&content_id=2040790&vkey=news_mlb&fext=.jsp&c_id=mlb" rel="nofollow">neither AL batting leader Ordonez nor NL leader Matt Holliday would be starting</a> if voting ended today.

FYI, Ordonez has one error in about 200 chances this season.

feeling with major league baseball fans is that magglio is not good enough defensively to a starting outfielder ahead of gold glover Hunter who is having a great season offensively as well.308 ave. with 15 home runs
